  1. A young woman brings home her fiance to meet her parents. After
  2. dinner, her mother tells her father to find out about the young man.
  3. The father invites the fiancee to his study for a drink.
  4.  
  5. "So what are your plans?" the father asks the young man.
  6.  
  7. "I am a Torah scholar." he replies.
  8.  
  9. "A Torah scholar. Hmmm," the father says. "admirable, but what will
  10. you do to provide a nice house for my daughter to live in, as she's
  11. accustomed to?"
  12.  
  13. "I will study," the young man replies, "and God will provide for us."
  14.  
  15. "And how will you buy her a beautiful engagement ring, such as she
  16. deserves?", asks the father.
  17.  
  18. "I will concentrate on my studies," the young man replies, "God will
  19. provide for us."
  20.  
  21. "And children?" asks the father. "How will you support children?"
  22.  
  23. "Don't worry, sir, God will provide," replies the fiance.
  24.  
  25. The conversation proceeds like this, and each time the father
  26. questions, the young idealist insists that God will provide.
  27.  
  28. Later, the mother asks, "How did it go, Honey?"
  29.  
  30. The father answers, "He has no job and no plans, but the good news is
  31. he thinks I'm God."
